Weneta M.A. Kosmala

Chapter 7 Trustee

The Trustee is assigned approximately 200 cases a month.  Those cases generate a tremendous amount of contact from debtors, creditors and attorneys.  Without an efficient system for handling the contact, the Trustee's staff would have virtually no chance of responding in a meaningful fashion.  Please help us to help you by following these instructions when contacting the Trustee's office:

PLEASE REVIEW THE INFORMATION

ON THIS SITE FIRST.

If you are looking for general information, check the links to the right, especially the "Frequently Asked Questions" page.  You may find just what you need, without even contacting us.

PLEASE REQUEST DOCUMENTS

 FROM THE BANKRUPTCY CLERK'S OFFICE.

If you need copies of particular documents on file in a case, please contact the Bankruptcy Court.  Because we have a responsibility to keep the costs of administration down, we cannot provide copies of documents to the general public.

If you have an account with PACER, the on-line docketing system, you may access case information for cases filed in the Central District of California by clicking here.

PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH US

IN WRITING.

This serves a number of purposes.  First, it allows everyone to "track" your request.  You can tell when you sent it, and we can tell when we received it.  Second, it allows us to make sure that we understand what you need.  Third, it provides us with the information we need to respond to you, including your address and telephone number.  Please MAIL all documents and information to us.  We do not accept deliveries to our offices or faxes unless we have expressly asked for them, and we expressly ask only rarely

PLEASE INCLUDE A

SELF-ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE

IF YOU NEED A RESPONSE.

The Trustee is responsible for keeping the costs of administration down.  It's only 37 cents to you, but multiplied by hundreds of letters a month, it's a significant expense to us!

IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY,

CALL OUR TRUSTEE LINE.

BEFORE YOU CALL, here's what you need to know about the Trustee line.  First, it is SECONDARY to contact in writing.  See the discussion above.   Second, it is an automated system.  This is for your convenience and protection, as well as ours.  You must leave a message to contact us.  We log every message, so that we know who called, when, and about which case.  Using the log, we can pull together case information so that we can respond to your question, and we can try to handle calls in the order in which they are received.  IF YOU DON'T LEAVE A MESSAGE, WE CANNOT RESPOND.  Third, do not call the day before your Trustee Meeting to ask if your Meeting will be taken off calendar.  We will contact you if your Meeting is off calendar.  Unless we contact you, assume that it is on calendar.  If you want to request a continuance, PLEASE DO SO IN WRITING, far enough in advance of the Meeting to allow us to process a response.  Again, assume that the Meeting is on calendar unless you are notified otherwise.

Okay, if you have followed these rules,

you may call the Trustee Line:

(714) 708-8190

PLEASE DO NOT CALL OUR LAW FIRM LINE, OR USE OUR LAW FIRM FAX, FOR A TRUSTEE MATTER.

We will just have to redirect your call, and you will only irritate us.  You don't want to do that, do you?
